A few weeks ago, we were hired by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce to generate grassroots opposition to a proposed software tax in Illinois.
Today — we’re happy report that this campaign was a success (for now). Last night, the software tax was removed from the tax increase bill passed by the Illinois Senate and the Illinois General Assembly has adjourned.
A great victory, to be sure.
Here’s how we did it:
- We built a targeted voter email list in key legislative districts, as well as a Facebook community of several hundred activists opposed to the bill.
- Delivering a consistent flow of compelling content to these audiences, we drove activists to a simple landing page that allowed them to directly contact their legislators.
- Through this effort — we were able to generate more than 2,200 direct contacts to legislators by voters opposed to the tax increase.
We were proud to be part of this effort — and look forward to helping the Illinois Chamber build similar grassroots efforts in the future to protect prosperity and jobs in our home state of Illinois.
