Public Health Agencies Get Social

Government 2.0?

That’s what they’re calling the efforts by some public health agencies across the country to utilize online media tools to better reach citizens. The Chi-Town Daily News reports today on the Cook County Health Department’s push to do just that.

Not sure I agree that it takes $400,000 to ramp up an effective online program — but a discussion of Cook County’s use of tax dollars is fodder for an entirely different (and long) discussion.  The important part is that governments using social media to effectively communicate with constituents is yet another way that modern media tools are transforming our lives for the better.
